Renaissance by Dominick and Haff

This gorgeous elaborate pattern by Dominick and Haff, Renaissance was introduced in 1894. If you look on the bottom of the terminal you will see a man's visage. This is a great example of the elegance of sterling silver in its hey day.

Old Maryland by Kirk Stieff

In 1936 Kirk Stieff introduced Old Maryland. The pattern is etched in the terminal with room left for a monogram. A very busy pattern continues down the stem stopping well short of the shoulder.

Della Robia was introduced by Alvin in 1922. It is a very simple pattern with a floral motif.

A repousse style design, Bouquet was introduced by Durgin in 1875. This is a highly decorated multimotif pattern.

Wedding Cake Knife

A standard piece found in most patterns, the Wedding Cake Knife is a very large piece designed to do just what its name says. I have seen it referred to as a Cake Saw, but that piece is much more ornate. Typically a wedding cake has a stainless blade and is much longer than the standard Cake Knife.

Colonial Patterns

Given we have just celebrated Thanksgiving, I thought it would interesting to see how different companies would interpret Colonial themes in their design. Most are very simple given the initial colonies were first settled by pilgrims seeking religious freedom.

Pendant-of-Fruit was designed by Frederick W. Kooz for Lunt and introduced in 1939. It was retired in 1972. A simple pattern with only a bouquet of fruit hanging down the terminal.

Indian by Whiting

Unlike Tiffany's Indian pattern which is very rare and extremely expensive, Indian by Whiting was introduced in 1880. Whiting's pattern is simple but elegant
