Bon Bon Tongs Part 3

I have posted earlier on small tongs, such as Sugar Tongs and Sugar Cubes Tongs. Here are more Bon Bon Tongs. The sizes on these three tongs tend to overlap. I recently bought a pair of, what I thought were, Sugar Tongs, only to learn they were actually Bon Bon Tongs. Not that it mattered, I was happy with them.

Della Robia was introduced by Alvin in 1922. It is a very simple pattern with a floral motif.

This very old pattern, Raphael,  was introduced by Gorham in 1875. It is a "flat" but intricate design, with a large heart on the terminal suitable for engraving.

When I started looking at Ice Serving Tongs, I found that they were referred to as "Large" and "Small". However, there was little difference in the sizes and what was small in one pattern (6 3/4 inches) maybe be larger than what was called large in another (5 3/4 inches). Safe to say there is no standard. However, you will find some with "claws" which tend to be more ornate. I posted earlier about Ice Serving Pieces and about Various Tongs earlier also.

Cupid by Dominick and Haff

Gilbert L. Crowell, Jr. designed this pattern for Dominick and Haff and Cupid was introduced in 1891. It is a lovely pattern with the motif of cupid on the bottom of the terminal just below an area that is nice for engraving.

Over the years I have posted about the different types of Tongs, but I don't think I have ever looked at all of them together. They vary from the Asparagus Tong which can be long as 9 inches to the Bread Tong at 3 inches. I have divided this review into two parts. This is the first part.
